Platform or "Plateau" Forceps
Platform ("Plateau") forceps were initially developed in the US market. The Plateau depicts the usable area with "Guaranteed" parallel closure. In this way a relible grip on sutures can be ensured.
Unique Gripping Grooves
Looking at the details of the grippiing grooves you will notice that at the top were the grooves meet the "Median" surface, the angle is only slightly beveled to enhance gripping power while ensuring that the surgical gloves are not damaged.
However the bottom of the grooves have a flat radius ensuring unwanted grit will have less cahnce of accumulating and sticking to a radius as opposed to an inside angle. The graduation and depth of the grooves was designed to ensure that the glove material would "form" into the grooves again maximising feel on the instrument. The form of the striage has also been choosen because it does not tire the tactile nerves of the hand.
